The Keeping Quilt

We just finished reading The Keeping Quilt by Patricia Polacco. It's a great book about a Russian family who moved to America and made a quilt to remind them of home. The story follows it for many years and shows how special a quilt can be. I thought it would be cute to gather all the quilts we have that are significant to us in some way. Here are a few pictures of them.

Kade's quilt came from Pottery Barn but it's special to him because it's been his blanky since he was a baby. Sophia's gorgeous quilt was made especially for her by her Aunt Amy Pierson. I made Jaxon's for him when he was a baby and according to him it brings back a lot of good memories.

The green quilt I'm holding is so special to me. My Grandma Henager made it when I was about 7 years old not long before she passed away. I remember sitting in her living room watching her make it and she told me I could have it. Well it wasn't too easy to get since my family always loved how comfy it was but I wasn't about to give it up. It reminds me of her and how much I loved spending time with her. It's also called the "sick blanket". When anyone in our house is sick they get to use it (don't worry we wash it often). The quilt hanging on the wall above us is also special because it was made and given to us by my sister in law Kaycee Pierson. She too is an amazing quilter.

Now get out your "special quilt", snuggle up in it and read a good book!
