Mom's Night Out & My Obedient Servant

Last Friday night we had a mom's night out with our home school group. It wasn't actually a "night out" for me because it was at my house but it was still fun and refreshing to be in the company of so many great women. Kimball was on a Scout camp out, but the stars must have been in alignment or something because my kids were awesome. Sophia went to sleep and the boys had a movie night in their room, they didn't come out once (and I didn't even have to threaten their lives). We enjoyed delicious food, visiting and sharing ideas on time saving tips. Being the Newbie that I am, I just kind of soaked it all in, trying to remember all the great advice. I am so glad to have a support group with whom I have so much in common with. Thanks to all of you for coming and I look forward to next month. I would have taken a picture of the group but I didn't want to scare off my new friends! :)

My Obedient Servant...Kade
In his room is posted a small list of things that must be done before any one's allowed to eat breakfast each morning. If you know Kade, you know he is passionate about food. This list has been a good thing and a bad thing, good in that he gets things done quickly, bad because he's devastated reading that breakfast won't be served until 8:00. For the last few days he's woken me up bright and early to let me know he's dressed, his prayer is said, his room is clean, he's picked up his dirty clothes, and he doesn't even have to tell me that his hair is combed because it's evident in the comb marks left on his slicked down do.
I feel bad for Jaxon since he shares a room with Kade, I'm sure he's not loving all the shuffling around in the wee hours of the morning. That's my Kade, the same one that rolls over with one eye still closed to ask..."What's for breakfast?" The one that cried for 4 hours straight when he was born because the nurses couldn't get formula in him fast enough! Kade, the one who was born 16 days early at a whopping 9.7 lbs. I just love this kid!
