Life Skills Week

I was reading from a great blog today. They are a home school family as well. Instead of taking a fall break, (in a true Charlotte Mason kind of way) they spent the week learning life skills. They got their house ready for winter. Check it out here for great ideas and inspiration. One of the things I love about blogging is the support I get from great women. Just when I start running out of ideas or getting too comfortable, I read a great post that gets me excited and teaches me something new. With this being my first year to home school, I'm still trying to figure out how to get it all done. I've been noticing things I'm not getting around to like, changing air filters, washing down the a/c units, planting pretty winter flowers, washing windows and dusting hard to reach places. If I teach my kids to help out, it not only makes the home run smoother, it prepares them for adulthood. It's been a rough week being sick and trying to teach. I'll admit this week I've had memories of quiet afternoons reading in a clean house, while Sophia napped, pass through my mind. It's OK because I still wouldn't trade this time for anything. I feel so lucky to have 3 side kicks home with me each day. I am anxious to kick this Bronchitis, so I can feel 100% again. Stay tuned for our post on what we've accomplished!
