Boys II Men

On Jaxon's 10Th birthday I gave him his first deodorant. He's looking at me like, "what?". Then he was in panic mode because he knew it would eventually make it on the blog. I should have handed him some shaving cream and a razor too.

Last week Jaxon received his Bear award at scouts. He (and I) worked very hard for this. Anyone who thinks an Eagle Scout does it on their own are sorely mistaken! Thanks also to his fabulous leaders who help him in scouting.

My Manly Man Kade reading the cartoon section. Back to the deoderant. Kade has been wearing it more than Jaxon. In fact, he puts it all over his entire upper body...seriously! When I tell him it's only necessary on the arm pits he replies, "I am a man!"

Brave Kade at the doctor's office. Oh if only he had always been this calm at his ear appointments!! He was getting a check up on his ear tube. It's been bothering him lately and we were hoping the doc would say it'd fallen out, but unfortunately it is clogged and not working. Since we have a $5,000 deductible we are praying that he can make it until spring without any ear problems. His ear drum should be healed by then. If not, he will go in for his 3rd hospital proceedure and we'll be forking over our deductible for the 3rd time. I know it's worth it but we are going to try and avoid it if possible. Cross your fingers.

The Man of the House playing a little hoop with his city league team. This is Kimball's second season on a city league. He really enjoys it. The picture is poor quality, sorry my camera's about dead!

  1. Jessica,
I LOVE the deodorant story. I remember vividly the first time my teenagers began to 'smell'. I was constantly reminding them about hygeine. It's nice once they start to care on their own. And that Kade is so adorable. We'll pray the ear heals up nicely without surgery!
I'm glad I'm not the only one on the "PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALLTHINGS BEAUTIFUL BUY ME A NEW CAMERA" list. See, only 2 days after my less is more post, I'm coveting everyone who has a NiKON D80.

  3. You are too cute with your yard sale woes. I had never even thought of that before. Trust me...no one will be hurt if you walk away. That is the nature of yard sales. I tell in 30 seconds whether it's a sale I want to stay at or not. I just walk up, say "hi" and then say thanks so much...:)
The few times I have felt sorry for the person who only has TOTAL junk out and not one person's trash is another person's treasure type of junk, but total junk...heehee. For those people I walk up, see what they don't have and then just say, "thanks, anyhow...I was looking for baby clothes." No lying, just say something that you would love to find that they don't have. I will have to post more on yard sales, because when you see all that I have gotten, and the quality of things, you will die and tell yourself that you can never sleep in on a Saturday ever again. Guess what my two girls are getting for Christmas (yep, from a yard sale this summer)...a Bitty Baby with 5 American Girl outfits, and a Samantha with 6 outfits, and assessories. Yep, Sohia sure would enjoy that for ....TWENTY BUCKS (retail over $150 :)

  5. I love the title of this post, it took me back:). At least Kade likes wearing the deodorant, you know he won't be the stinky kid when he gets older.
