Disclaimer: As always I'm speaking to myself here...a pep talk if you will.
i conquered the garage
the 'junk drawers'
a kitchen cabinet
made a few trips to goodwill
caught up on the laundry
devoured books from my 'current read' shelf
saw dear john with a friend
i'll likely see it again-and again-and again
played in the rain
paid bills
now for the budget!
Let us not forget our finances in the process of purging, simplifying...spring cleaning. Our goals are always lofty, we claim to be Dave Ramsey's biggest fan and yet in time, we digress. This economy bites (I'll just say it). I'm frustrated that our debts seem to be at a stand still or even climbing at times, but that's all the more reason we need to 'clean house'.
Keeping track of everything that comes in and everything that goes out, not turning a blind eye to what we may not want to see. We can't fix what we don't acknowledge, so even though it can be painful when we finally decide to 'check in' and be proactive with our money, just remember...by making a few changes, we lighten our load and sleep more sound.
If you've been hiding under the covers for the past few years, and this all sounds too scary...

It all comes down to
{Discipline and Purpose}
the two words I chose last month to describe
my 2010 resolutions.
We started a new budget this year. It's been GREAT for us. There is a lot of freedom that comes from understanding your finances and living within our means. Not really fun at times, but very freeing!
ReplyDeleteHey, Jessica, thanks for stopping by! I'm really enjoying Beth's book too, it's very enlightening. I think we are ALL insecure in certain areas.
ReplyDeleteI belong to a parenting community and really enjoy alot of the threads on Dave Ramsey's plan. We follow alot of his rules (without knowing it) and it makes sense!
ReplyDeleteDR changed our lives!! We were amazed at how happy we actually were once we were debt free and living within our means!
ReplyDeleteYou are further along than I am. {in the budget dept.}
ReplyDeleteLove the new blog header!
I love Mint.com for my budget, but I know there are tons of sites out there. I love your header. I need you to teach me how to do that (in all your spare time!).
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I read your post. It reminded me of the washer and dryer sitting in our garage I keep meaning to list in the classifieds, and the pile of stuff I keep meaning to list on eBay. It's time for my Dave Ramsey style spring cleaning!
ReplyDeleteoh.. this is a serious weakness of mine. i hate budgets.. i'd rather just go cold turkey. cut frivolous spending out all together... good for you and thanks for inspiring!
