Back in 2008 I did a makeover on our bathroom, I blogged about it,
but accidentally deleted it when I combined my two blogs.
So here's the repost.
but accidentally deleted it when I combined my two blogs.
So here's the repost.
It started out w/ your basic oak colored cabinets.
- I first took off the doors
- Lightly sanded the cabinets
- Wiped off dust with slightly damp cloth
- Applied one coat of primer
- Then two coats of black paint
- Added knobs and handles
The knobs and handles are from Lowe's.
Cute little lamp from Hobby Lobby.
Paint color = "herb garden" by Benjamin Moore.
I got a TON of compliments on the paint color, only thing I did wrong was have the painter do my WHOLE HOUSE IN IT! I won't tell you how much that cost, and I slowly started changing the colors any way.
Word to the wise...when you first get into a new home, take time to really think it through. Don't feel like you need to pull a 'Martha' and decorate it from top to bottom all in the first month.
I also got this clock and scripture plaque from Hobby Lobby which is where I got the color scheme idea.
Roman shades above, from JCPenny's...obviously before I found the Nester or I'd have "mistreated" my own! :)
I jazzed up this photo board by adding crystal buttons and black fringe...made a huge difference.
Crazy thing is, I discovered it also works as a necklace hanger, (boo yeah)!
I printed pictures of places I want to travel...believe and acheive people!!!
Chunky mirror below was originally brown so I taped it off and painted it too.
We had the builder put in linolium flooring (since they wouldn't do custom requests), since we own a masonry business we just pulled it up and added tile and wood throughout the house. This tyle is a french country chiseled edge style...can't remember the name of it but I loved it. I'll get back to you on that one (I'm sure Kimball can tell me).
We sold this home last May, I had forgotten how many beautiful renovations we did
and now I totally miss it!
and now I totally miss it!
We're in a rental for now...not much freedom in that, and if there was I still don't want to
spend money on someone else's house,
that I may or may not want to move out of soon.

that I may or may not want to move out of soon.
So my "home goals" this year are to keep a clean and organized house,
that's a safe haven for my family,
WOW! It looks fantastic! You really have a knack for decorating!!! GREAT JOB!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the new blog look too!
Oh, and THANKS for your sweet comment on my last post! I'll be praying for your sweet Kade!!!
I swear we are the same person! I was just looking through some old, lost photos of our home last night...and I (also) was thinking of posting the photos....and also thinking of crying my eyes out!! It IS such a change, isn't it?! Some days I get so weepy over our move(and this rental) and other days I'm fine. I'm wishing you many fine days...and not so many weepy ones.
ReplyDeleteOh, and last night I was also playing around and changed my blog. I almost went with polka dots-Too funny! Yours looks great. How did you make the header??
Have a great day, Jess!
This looks awesome. Love the new blog look. I want to do mine, but I dont know HTML very well.
ReplyDeleteThanks Vanessa, I just used Picnik.com I'll help you if you need it, I just don't have much free time right now. I still got to finish Lindsey's.
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies, you're all so kind!
Hey Jessica! Cute bathroom!! I love Olivia P's style too and agree her personality is lacking! I am sad if The City was cancelled. Nice to meet you!
ReplyDeleteWe are currently doing a bathroom remodel that has taken a LOT of blood, sweat, and tears. And the worst part? That voice in the back of my head that reminds me we won't live here forever and WHAT will I do when I have to leave the bathroom behind?? Thanks for acknowledging that it does happen, and tears are okay! I've no doubt that you will continue to make rooms more beautiful than this one!
ReplyDeleteI saw you on the "Nester". Your Dave Ramsey post caught my eye. My family has been "Ramsified" ourselves. So decorating on a budget is a must. Thanks for post about your previous home. It just shows you have the potential to make any house a home- no matter where you live. Thanks for sharing!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat post!! I just found your blog while blog hopping. Would love for you to check out my blog! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteokay...just realized that you sold that home and are living somewhere else now....so we're in the same boat...can't do a whole lot to the houses that we live in....just add our stuff and hope it makes a difference. :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE the idea of a photoboard in the bathroom - but wouldn't the photos ruin when you had a shower?
