Get a board and sand it down a bit, paint it the color you want, remembering to also paint the sides of your big letter. Stencil the letters with paint and if you like the non stencil look just fill in the spaces to make a solid letter. You can also sand lightly after stenciling to give a more shabby look. Once it's dry, stain it a bit and wipe off with a cotton tee shirt type rag. Buy a letter from the craft store and choose a cute pattern of scrapbook paper. You'll trace it, then cut and glue on with Modge Podge, making sure you use plenty around the edges. When letter is dry you can stain and wipe it as well. If you'd like to add glitter/sparkle dust do so when it's still a little wet. Tie some cute ribbons to your letter and stick it on your board with craft/multipurpose glue. SUPER EASY! We also did this for Christmas

Fall Craft and Decorating
Here's an easy fall craft. I know all my fellow church members are laughing that I'm posting this since they all did them last year too, but for all of you who don't live within a 1 mile radius...this is for you.

Now for some Halloween decor, I have a hard time spending money on Halloween stuff for some reason. Maybe because it's all so ugly, but the kids love it so you have to do something!
I love this sparkly sign that says BEWARE!
The only tassel I own and it's a skeleton!

Sorry Kimba, I know you don't like when live looking things are cooped up, but it's a rat!
Poor Sophia is so affraid of the moving witch hand, we torture her by turning it on...we're bad like that!

You are quite the crafty person Jess, those are really cute, I love the pumpkin under the glass too, its adorable
ReplyDeleteHey I like those:) Is your ward crafting again this year? Mine does not believe in crafting.
ReplyDeleteHey Brianne,
ReplyDeleteI forgot that you were awesome enough to join me at Super Saturday. I haven't heard of one but that's because I'm in primary but I'll let you know if they do it again. Jaxon's so glad Palmer's coming. :) Talk to you soon.
Jen, I'm really not very crafty. I just copy other peoples stuff and only about 45% of the stuff I do turns out OK. :)
Hey really cute, simple, yet very eye-catching and festive!!! The things you share are all fabulous, that 45% is pretty awesome !!!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I think I could even handle that.
ReplyDeleteIt would made a nice gift - maybe I'll try it.
Where did you get the board? You made that part sound so simple. ;)
Where did I get the board? It was a church craft day called "Super Saturday", so they had all the supplies I needed. I know at Home Depot you can just choose the size and ask them to cut it the length you want. :)
ReplyDeleteAlso Julie, thanks for all the comments you leave. I wish you had a blog too so I could pay it forward:) Did you ever get around to refinishing that dresser?
Those look fantastic! I think I may try one for Christmas...I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for the fabulous idea!
ReplyDeleteJess-I'm on my wards Super Sat committee. www.cparkward.blogspot.com check out our crafts. Also, can you send me pix of the other crafts you did? They are too cute and we're always looking for new ideas.
ReplyDeleteDO you do a Super Saturday once a month? SOunds like lots of fun....these are great. When I was in MOPS, everytime we would do a craft it would look like my preschooler did it. Too much talking, not enough working, but we only had about 30 minutes to do them.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE all of your Halloween deocrations....they are GREAT!!! I like that trapped rat!! Also, the signs are really cute!!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks great...I never decorated with creepy looking things til my oldest son got to be in about the 3rd grade...I still try to limit it though, lol.
ReplyDeleteI have this spooking ghost that starts howling when you walk by it...but no one, not even my dh will allow me hang it because it scares the crap out of everyone, lol. Drats!
Bella :)
PS: Nice to meet you :)
I love those boards! I'd like to try one if I can find a board!!
ReplyDeleteYour rat gives me the creeps! Good thing he's trapped ;o)
Ooohhh! I love the Pumpkin and Christmas signs!
ReplyDeleteHappy Fall!
I love those signs! They're perfect...great! Another thing to add to my to-do list (which seems to be growing exponentially today!). LOL! :)
ReplyDeleteLOL at poor Sophia- I know we couldn't have those sorts of decorations in our house. My dds would cry cry cry!
I love those signs. Your sofa table is great, such a wonderful decor. I have to laugh at the witch, because we do the same thing with our kids.

ReplyDeleteI love your Halloween decor. I have that rat and beware sign too. Your collection of witches is fun.
Love the signs. The rat might creep me out a little. That is the one thing I freak out over is rats. Everything is cute. May have to try one of those signs. Jackie
ReplyDeleteThe rat under glass, while makes me squirm, is my fav of all!
