Gazelle Mode

As you know I'm a big Dave Ramsey fan. Well it's been hard to make progress with paying down our debt lately...people not paying us, high gas, bad economy etc. I am not completely innocent, I could spend a little less and I have a pretty hefty car payment (which I hope to get rid of). Anyway I am back in gazelle mode as Dave calls it. I saw this on another persons blog the other day and thought it was a good idea to let you all know when you get a card instead of a nice birthday or Christmas gift, you'll know why!

  1. Sounds like a good plan. We could use a little more of that. This economy stuff is really hitting us in the wallet & like you said, with people not paying what they owe us or their checks bouncing on us, it has been a little tougher than normal. (Bryan owns his own business too) Good luck on going Gazelle and wish me luck!

  2. Ethan and I listen to him on the way to Bonnie and Dan’s and we love him. Some people that called in are so dumb with money and then are like “I don’t know why I have no money.” I saw this all the time at the bank and it is really just a stupid way to live. Thanks for the info.

  3. We love Dave Ramsey too. We have been credit card free this year and loving it! I work at Kohl's and our managers are always asking me to get a credit card (all the other employees have them). I finally told them that we do not have ANY credit cards and everyone's mouth fell open. They just could not believe it. My van is paid for (in 2 years - not 5) and we are almost done with student loans. Yeah!

  4. I am glad to see that you are going to buckle down! Hopefully you will save some of that cash budget for when I come down. I have really become accustom to really luxurious trips down there. All the good stuff 24 packs of diet pepsi, cream cheese brownies from paradise bakery, stolen water glasses from paradise bakery, gourmet meals from jenny craig and weight watchers. All I am saying is that I really expect the royal treatment when I am at the Washburns. Hopefully you can deliver. I am definitely pulling for your replacement car to be a van! I really loved your van.

P.S. I totally here the whole people not paying you! Imagine if your husband went to work and on payday the boss just kept telling you "oh yeah I'm working on it". I mean really imagine not getting your paycheck for months! I really think that people take advantage of small business owners. It's so crazy because we are the ones they should really make the most effort to pay. It drives me crazy! People probably think that we will just forget about the work we did for them and it will just go away because we are not a credit card company. Why don't people just pay there bills? Or not get the work done! OK I feel better, Carly

  5. Good for you! In my new effort to be frugal I have started using coupons for the first time in my life (pathetic I know). Anyways on my first trip to Albertson's I spent $33 and saved $55, I was going to ask the cashier for a high five, but he didn't seem to care about my savings nearly as much as I did.

  6. Brianne you are too funny. I can't imagine you using coupons for some reason:) I think your savings deserved a two handed high five! I haven't ever found a way to save with coupons but I know others do so I must be doing it all wrong! Maybe for G.N.O. you could give us a lesson??

  7. In response to Carly. Yeah you know what I'm talking about with people not paying their bills...I was taught that it wasn't optional! Whatever! I'm SO excited about your upcoming visit that I added a count down feature on my side bar:) I wish we could go to Mexico again but for now we'll have to settle for the dollar theater and walks to the park.

  8. Don't forget to pamper yourselves with a delicious batch of zucchini brownies too! In AZ, it's probably not too late to plant them. ;)
